瓜奈里家族是義大利克里蒙納學派之中，三大製琴家族之一。這件小提琴的作者朱塞佩．瓜奈里．耶穌，則是家族的第三代傳人。有人認為他是繼史特拉底瓦里之後最偉大的製琴師。

這把小提琴是耶穌．瓜奈里在黃金時期最具有代表性的作品之一，小提琴的漩渦狀頭部可以看到清楚的雕刻痕跡，風格相當粗獷，背板則是使用具有美麗紋路的兩塊楓木製作而成。耶穌．瓜奈里的作品追求卓越的演奏品質，聲音明亮優美，音量恢宏強勁。法國著名演奏家拉楓特曾收藏這件作品，曾經使用它和當時的義大利小提琴演奏大師帕格尼尼比賽。帕格尼尼對耶穌．瓜奈里提琴的音質給予高度的讚美、肯定。在拉楓特之後約100年，這把小提琴成為美國籍捷克裔小提琴家西史科夫斯基的收藏長達三十多年，因此這件作品的別名又稱為拉楓特–西史科夫斯基。

Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù was the third-generation from one of the three main Cremonese luthiers’ families. Some people think he was the greatest luthier after Stradivarius.

This violin is one of the most representative works from his prime years. Carving traces are clearly visible on the head scroll, so the style is quite rough. However, the back uses two pieces of beautifully grained maple. In his works Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù strove for excellent performance quality, a bright, beautiful sound, and magnificently strong volume. The famous French violinist Charles Philippe Lafont once owned this instrument and played it in a competition against the Italian master Niccolò Paganini. Paganini also held the tonal quality of del Gesù violins in high esteem. Around 100 years after Lafont, this violin was the collection of the Czech-American violinist Jaroslav Siskovsky for more than 30 years. That is how this violin came to be known as the “Lafont-Siskovsky”
